Forward

Moving Forward | THE WRIGHT STUFF

Joining with the #Five Minute Friday group of writers, where we write for 5 minutes on a one word prompt. Today’s prompt is: Forward

For me just now as we approach the lifting of ‘Lockdown’ my biggest fear and regret will be if we just go back to the way things were before, back to our old ways of living, working and worshipping.

Instead my biggest desire is that we move forward on to new things, that having taken stock, we move forward in the way we live and move around this earth, that we find new, creative, meaningful working enivornments and working lives with balance.

And also most importantly I want us to move forward in church!! No longer shackled by the bondage of traditions, but really becoming a church of the people, a church of the community, where the relevance of the gospel is seen and known in everyday life. I want to move forward in God, finding new ways to worship, new ways to serve, new ways to encourage, new ways to BE the church.

Thy Kingdom come

Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

Matthew 6:10

  1. Let’s rebuild that which we had,
    and let us not, please, muck about
    with each newish passing fad,
    for there will surely be, no doubt,
    tremors in the clean rebuild
    of our good old ways;
    and our hours will be filled
    through endless daunting days
    of returning to what was,
    without building towers higher;
    so let us just stop there, because
    there’s plenty to inspire
    our hearts to make the blessings flow
    as ’round and ’round the sun we go.

  2. I share your desire and pray – that we move forward and not simply return (backward) to what used to be…whether it feels right/normal/easy or not!

  3. I agree, it will be interesting to see how things are different as we move forward. I hope we can learn lessons from this time that will help us do that well.
