But do not forget this one thing, dear friends; with the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow to keep His promises, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.2 Peter 3:8-9
What do you think Matilda was doing on that nest? Do you think she was scoring off the days? No, she was being patient, sitting and keeping on sitting, warming and rolling the eggs beneath her.
We are so impatient aren’t we?
We want God’s answers now! We want to see Him work, come in and transform a situation and now would be a good time!
What about that promise God gave us years ago, have we forgotten it, given up on it?
Do doubts and fears come in because we allow our immediate feelings and reactions to come in and control our situations?
Or can we encourage our hearts that with the Lord, one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day? Can we trust that His timing is perfect and He will show up on time, at just the right time?!
Lord, help me to trust Your timings and to be patient in hope to trust Your promises. Amen.
